Ford is coming out with a new F-150, will it rock the boat on the 2022 model?
While the majority of features from the 2022 F-150 will be continued in the 2023 F-150, there are a couple of new and exciting trims being offered. As for the standard package and the 6 other trims, the measurements, exterior, engine, horsepower and transmission will all be comparable to the 2022 model. So, those that are looking for an upgrade but similar options will be on the safe side.
Key Takeaways:
- Both the 2022 and 2023 F-150 offer up to 14,000 lbs of towing capability
- 8 inch touch screens connected to the Ford Infotainment for both years
- Possible technological upgrades for the 2023 model
- 2023 featuring the new trims based off the XL series
- Comfortable and modern cab features on both
- Discontinuing of a couple of 2022 colors
The new trims are only available for the 2023 model year. These are the Heritage Edition trim which celebrates the pickup truck’s 75th anniversary and the Rattler trim is a more affordable off-road focused F-150. The Heritage will fuse modern design in addition to the 1970s and ’80s two-tone exterior paint color schemes. It also has a white “75 Years” logo that will come emblazoned on the center console, the upper center windshield, and the center screen start. As for the Ford Rattler, it is coming in hot. Based off of the XL series, the Rattler is offering four- wheel drive featuring skid plates, hill descent control and exceptional off-road features such as off-road shock absorbers for the adventure seeker in all of us. Also included is the enhanced traction that assists when off-roading over rugged terrain that matches the all-terrain 18” tires.
The Rattler will feature rattlesnake-inspired graphics with a dual exhaust system. The dual exhaust system lends a bold sound while tipping off a unique style that is completed with the rattlesnake-inspired graphics and fender vents. Exterior colors will come in the options of: Oxford White, Avalanche, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Antimatter Blue, Stone Gray, Agate Black and Rapid Red TriCoat.
Speaking of Colors…
What’s in store for the 2023 F-150 model in colors? Ford offers these great options: Area 51, Hot Pepper Red, Azure Gray, and Avalanche. This may depend on the trim chosen as well. As for colors being discontinued from the 2022 F-150, the Smoked Quartz and Space White being removed, so if these colors are a must stick with a 2022. There may also be some viable options on the horizon for technology upgrades on the new trim models.
What features are offered on the standard vs the upgraded trims?
Since a redesign was made in 2021, the basic line-up of all the F-150 models will be kept the same as the previous 2 years. With the continuous high towing and payload capabilities, consumers can expect the same workload pull and towing capacity that they are used to with the 2022 F-150 model. The same goes for the interior that focuses on a modern look with comfort always at hand, the 2023 F-150 model will have the same feel as the 2022 model in this aspect as well. But seeing as there are a couple of new trims available, consumers looking for something more adventure-savvy or a little bit of history will still get that option.
Summary
So who is to say which is better, the 2023 F-150 or the 2022 F-150. Since so many features are alike on both of these models it is a hard decision to make. The good part is that the same features and qualities that make this model a top seller are still in place. You can expect the new 2023 Ford F-150 to have all the same capabilities that consumers have come to know and love. If looking for a total overhaul, this may not be the year to trade in but if you are seeking an upgrade comparable to the previous year, you will not be disappointed.
